Let’s be honest. Everyone’s suddenly talking about Milos like it’s some “hidden gem.”
Well, that ship has sailed. The secret’s out.
Milos is stunning, but it’s not untouched anymore especially in July and August, when half of Europe shows up with drones and inflatable flamingos.
Still, this island has some of the most mind-blowing beaches in Greece — you just need to know which ones are worth it, how to get there, and when to go.
Here’s your honest, insider-approved guide to the best beaches in Milos Greece, including which ones are overhyped, which ones still feel like paradise, and which ones will test your driving skills (and your nerves).

🏝️ How Many Beaches Are on Milos?
Over 70 yes, seventy.
From lunar white cliffs to red rock coves, it’s like every beach belongs on a different planet.
But not all are easy to reach some require a 4×4, good shoes, and preferably no fear of heights.
So let’s start with the must-see beaches that actually live up to the hype.
🌕 Sarakiniko Beach – Beautiful, But Better by Moonlight
Everyone comes here first. Everyone takes the same photo.
White volcanic rock, turquoise water — it’s surreal, yes. But also packed by 10 AM in summer.
During the day, Sarakiniko feels more like a catwalk than a beach.
There’s no shade, no café, and definitely no peace.
🌙 Pro tip: Go at night or sunrise. The moonlight makes the white rocks glow — it’s otherworldly and quiet.
Bring water, a flashlight, and a towel. Don’t expect a beach bar.
Organized: ❌
What to bring: Water, food, hat, shade
Best time: Sunrise or after sunset
💙 Kleftiko Beach – The Pirate Caves (Only by Boat)
Kleftiko is Milos’ crown jewel but you can’t just drive there.
You’ll need to join a boat tour, which is half the fun anyway.
Massive white cliffs rise out of turquoise water, and the caves look like something out of a fantasy movie.
It used to be a pirate hideout now it’s where tourists snorkel with GoPros.

Organized: ✅ (on boat tours)
What to bring: Snorkel gear, sunscreen, camera
Best time: Anytime – it’s boat-only
🌸 Fyriplaka Beach – Colorful Cliffs & Chill Vibes
If I had to pick one beach to spend a full day, it would be Fyriplaka.
Soft sand, dramatic red cliffs, and a beach bar that plays chill music instead of techno.
It’s half-organized meaning you can rent sunbeds, but there’s also free space if you prefer your own towel and snacks.
Parking is decent (for Milos standards), and the road is bumpy but doable.
Organized: 🟡 (partly organized)
What to bring: Water, snacks, flip-flops for hot sand
Best for: Relaxed beach day with easy access
🧗♀️ Tsigrado Beach – Pretty but Painful
Instagram lied to you.
Yes, the photos are amazing. But to actually get there, you’ll have to climb down a rope and a wooden ladder — holding your stuff, trying not to fall on other tourists.
And when you finally make it down? You’ll be sitting centimeter to centimeter with strangers.
If you want a nice photo, fine. If you want to relax — don’t.
Organized: ❌
What to bring: Backpack (not a beach bag), water, good shoes
Best time: Early morning or skip it
🏖️ Papafragas Beach – The Dramatic Cliff Pool
This one’s tiny, but visually stunning a narrow cove surrounded by high cliffs, with emerald water that looks unreal.
The path down is steep and slippery, so wear proper shoes.
It’s not really for swimming all day, more for photos and a quick dip.
Organized: ❌
What to bring: Shoes with grip, water
Best for: Quick visit & photos
🐚 Firopotamos Beach – Postcard Perfect
Now we’re talking.
Firopotamos is one of those small fishing village beaches where colorful houses line the bay.
It’s easy to reach, has a few umbrellas, and the water is insanely clear.
Come early to find parking or you’ll end up walking uphill under the Greek sun (been there, done that).
Organized: ✅ (limited)
What to bring: Light snacks, towel, camera
Best for: Swimming & photos
🐙 Agia Kiriaki Beach – Calm & Underrated
On the southern coast, Agia Kiriaki is surprisingly chill even in summer.
There’s a taverna right by the beach, some umbrellas, and enough space to breathe.
It’s also one of the few beaches with easy access and parking right by the sea.
Organized: ✅
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, cash for taverna
Best for: Families, relaxed beach days
🏜️ Paliochori Beach – Colorful, Steamy & Unique
This one’s a showstopper.
The cliffs are orange, red, and gold — and the sand literally gets warm from underground volcanic activity.
Yes, you can dig a hole and feel hot water.
There are several beach bars, tavernas, and even a section with music and cocktails.
Organized: ✅✅
What to bring: Beach towel, appetite, maybe flip-flops
Best for: Lunch + swim combo day
🚙 Agathia & Triades (my favorite!) – For the Adventurous Souls
Now we’re heading west.
These beaches are not easy to reach dirt roads, steep turns, zero mobile signal.
But if you like the feeling of discovering something wild, they’re pure magic.
Wide, untouched, golden sand and barely a soul in sight.
Just make sure you bring everything you need: water, food, shade because there’s nothing there.
Organized: ❌
What to bring: 4×4 car, supplies, patience
Best for: Adventurers & photographers
📍 Beaches That Are Overrated (Sorry, Not Sorry)
Let’s keep it real:
- Tsigrado Beach → Too crowded, too small.
- Sarakiniko Beach (Daytime) → Stunning but feels like an open-air selfie museum.
- Provatas Beach → Fine, but nothing special compared to others.
If you only have a few days, skip those and go for Fyriplaka, Kleftiko, or Agathia instead.
☀️ When Is the Best Time to Visit Milos?
Timing is everything.
Milos is becoming increasingly popular and in July & August, it’s packed.
The best time to visit:
- Early June: Warm, calm, cheaper, fewer people.
- Mid-September: Sea still warm, relaxed, sunsets softer.
If you can, avoid mid-July to late August unless you love traffic jams, crowded beaches, and inflated hotel prices.
🚗 Getting Around for Beach-Hopping
Forget buses. You’ll need your own wheels ideally a car or ATV.
Most roads are fine, but the western part of the island is rough.
Paved roads turn into rocky trails fast and Google Maps is overly optimistic.
If you’re not comfortable driving off-road, stick to beaches in the south and east. If you are you’ll be rewarded with empty golden bays and zero crowds.

Domes White Coast Milos – Cliffside elegance with infinity pool views
Perched on a cliff, this serene beachfront haven offers Cycladian-style rooms with private infinity pools and breathtaking views. Savor divine culinary delights and witness magical sunsets, creating an unforgettable experience on the beautiful island of Milos.
❓ FAQs About Milos Beaches
Over 70! You won’t see them all in one trip — but you’ll want to try.
No, it’s boat-only. But that’s what keeps it special.
Agia Kiriaki, Provatas, and Paliochori — calm water, tavernas, easy access.
Sarakiniko (go early or at night), Firopotamos, and Kleftiko from the sea.
Unofficially, yes — especially on more remote western beaches like Agathia or Triades.
🌊 Final Thoughts: Milos Beaches Are Worth the Adventure
Milos isn’t the easiest island — the roads can test your patience, and you’ll definitely sweat.
But then you see the cliffs of Kleftiko, or float in the blue silence of Agathia, and you realize: this is Greece at its most raw and beautiful.
Bring sunscreen, snacks, courage, and your sense of humor because half the fun is getting lost on the way.
And if you go in early June or mid-September? You’ll get that dream version of Milos everyone talks about — without the crowds.
